New Anthology Short Story + THE BLACKSMITH’S BOY Giveaway!
The weather is getting cooler here in central North Carolina. Fall is creeping along – my favorite time of year.
So far, September has been a good month on the writing front. My Middle Grades short story “Found Family” has been published in the Promised Protagonists anthology. It’s a nice collection of uplifting stories for kids, featuring protagonists from all backgrounds. Their theme is that every kid deserves to see themselves in the stories they read – and that’s a mission I support.
“Found Family” is set in the 1960s. A neighbor’s death brings Vietnam home to twelve-year-old Cathy Humphries’ small, working-class North Carolina neighborhood. In this nostalgic, coming-of-age story, Cathy must convince her parents they can take in Jacob, the neighbor’s young son. Can her kindness and determination give hope to a child struggling with the loss of a parent?
You can order print or eBook copies of Promised Protagonists on Amazon, Barnes & Noble, or Bookshop.
